I never really managed to get out and shoot as much personal work I wanted to in 2009, or update this site as much as I’d hoped. New family commitments changed my focus from the landscapes that I love to capture, to documenting the newest member of the Goldsworthy household. Needless to say I’m getting much faster at decision making through the viewfinder, as I try to grab a beautiful millisecond of my sons first few years. An ongoing project that has been very rewarding so far and I’m sure will continue to be in 2010.

Back in September we were lucky enough to get a short beak in the Lakes, we hadn’t been for a while so I was excited to get back out there. I wanted to bag something like my shot of Windermere at sunset that I really liked the feel of.
I managed to leave the family for a short while one evening and head over to Ullswater which was about 20 minutes away. I knew where I wanted to shoot from, I just wasn’t sure if i’d be able to get onto the platform that late in the day, but with a bit of climbing I was able to set up the tripod. Rushing round trying out a few test shots to get the exposure right was a nightmare as the light was disappearing really fast. I took about 6 shots in all, each with slightly different composition but this was my favourite.
For anybody wanting to get out there and try a similar shot here’s the location:
